Summer Stars Reading Adventure - Cavan County Libraries

The Summer Stars Reading Adventure is Cavan County Libraries’ free summer reading challenge for children, running from 2 June to 31 August 2026. Children collect a Summer Stars Reading Card from any Cavan library branch, record each book they read (online or in print), and receive a certificate at the end of the summer. Prizes and goodies are available along the way. Thousands of children’s eBooks and eAudiobooks are also available through the BorrowBox app for all library members.
Runs 2 June to 31 August 2026 at all Cavan library branches (Johnston Central, Virginia, Cootehill, Bailieborough, Belturbet, Arva and more).
Free for all children; collect a Reading Card from your local branch to register.
All library branches will be closed Bank Holiday weekend 5 to 7 August; reopening 8 August.
Book review competition runs in August - pick up entry forms from Bailieborough, Cootehill or Johnston Central Library; entries by Saturday 26 August.
