At Drummany Spirit · Drummany Rahan, Milltown, Co. Cavan, H14 E003
The Healing Spirit Festival is a long-weekend gathering on the Drummany Spirit organic farm near Belturbet - three days of live music, holistic workshops, and outdoor activities in the Cavan lakelands, entirely free of alcohol and substances. Founded in 2022 by Gearoid Teevan as the Healing Bridges Festival, it has grown into one of Ireland’s most distinctive conscious festivals, drawing musicians, storytellers, therapists, and families who want something different from the standard summer festival circuit. If you are after a sober, family-safe space with real traditional roots and a strong community atmosphere, this is one of the more unusual events on the Irish calendar.
The festival runs across the first weekend of August and fills the Drummany land with a wide spread of programming. Live music leans toward traditional, folk, and world music - past headliners have included Liam Ó Maonlaí and Kila, with sets from acts like Bog Bodies and Marcus Magee & The Hollaw Men alongside storytelling by The Armagh Rhymers. One centrepiece unique to the site is An Ruaille Buaille Druma, a large hand-crafted wooden community drum said to hold up to 30 players at once.
Off the main stage, workshops run throughout the weekend: yoga, meditation, breathwork, sound baths, restorative and ceili dancing, sacred sweatlodges, willow weaving, plant foraging, and environmental talks. Evening fireside jam sessions keep things going after dark. Camping is available on the farm with lakeside pitching, and the site leans into the surrounding landscape rather than walling it off. Weekend tickets start from €50; day tickets are also available. The no-alcohol, no-drugs policy is held to firmly - families are specifically welcomed on that basis.
Drummany Spirit sits on the R212 approximately 6 km north-east of Belturbet town. From Dublin, take the N3 to Cavan town and continue north on the R212 through Milltown - the total drive is around two hours. From the north, come through Enniskillen on the A4/N16 and approach Belturbet from the west.
There is no direct public transport to the farm itself, so driving or arranging a lift is the practical option. Belturbet town has limited parking but the festival site should have its own field parking - check drummanyspirit.com nearer the date for specific directions and any car-share arrangements the organisers put together.
Belturbet is a small market town on the River Erne with easy access to the Shannon-Erne Waterway, good for a walk or a boat trip if you arrive a day early or stay on. The surrounding Cavan lakelands make for quiet driving and cycling country. There is more to see in Belturbet and across Co. Cavan.
