Christy Moore is one of those performers who changes the atmosphere of a room the moment he walks out. For more than fifty years he has carried Irish song with unusual seriousness - collecting it, writing it and delivering it with a directness that makes a 900-seat hall feel like a kitchen. The show runs 8pm to 10pm in The TLT’s Main Hall. Christy Moore’s live performances are famously stripped back - no elaborate production, just the man, his guitar and his voice. He draws on a catalogue that spans early Planxty and Moving Hearts material, solo classics like “Ride On” and “The Voyage”, and songs from his most recent studio album “Flying Into Mystery” (2021), named Hot Press Folk Album of the Year. Setlists vary and he is known for the attention he gives each song - the pauses, the way a lyric lands, the sense that he is singing directly at you. Audiences of all ages turn up, and the generational mix is part of what makes his shows feel significant. The bar opens at 6pm, two hours before showtime.
The TLT sits at East Coast Business Park on Matthews Lane, a ten-minute walk from Drogheda town centre. There is free on-site parking with attendants on duty. By train, Drogheda MacBride Station is on the Dublin to Belfast intercity line with frequent services from Connolly - the walk from the station takes around fifteen minutes. From Dublin by road, the M1 brings you to Drogheda in under an hour.
