Droichead Arts Centre Film Club - Autumn 2026

Droichead Arts Centre’s Film Club moves into a new season for autumn 2026, following a Spring/Summer run curated with Access Cinema that covered eight international titles, each followed by a short post-screening discussion, at a season price of €48 for all eight films or €8 per film. The autumn programme brings a fresh run of international movies, and this year it also folds in a set of short films made by Dundalk Institute of Technology’s Film and Television Production students, giving the season a strong local thread alongside its international selections.

What to expect

The autumn season continues the pattern set by the spring run, with a new international movie programme and a short discussion after each screening. Woven into that slate is a run of DkIT student short films, screening on three consecutive Saturdays within this window: Who’s Next? on 10 October, One Moment on 17 October, and Mousetrap on 24 October, with a further instalment, The Forgotten Griever, following on 14 November after this event’s window closes. Each of these is a graduate production from DkIT’s BA (Hons) in Film and Television Production, giving Drogheda audiences an early look at work from the county’s own film and television course before it reaches any wider audience, alongside the visiting international titles that make up the rest of the season. Droichead’s screening room is the same 169-seat raked theatre with a full cinema screen and projector used for the venue’s BVIFF festival screenings each August, and there is a café bar on site for before or after the film. Getting there

Droichead Arts Centre is on Stockwell Street in central Drogheda, a few minutes’ walk from the bus and rail stations. Drogheda is on the M1 motorway about 50km north of Dublin, with regular Bus Eireann and Irish Rail services from Dublin Connolly taking around 45 minutes, and Drogheda MacBride station on the south side of the Boyne is a 10 to 15 minute walk across the river to the centre. On-street parking and the Drogheda Municipal Centre car park are both close by, and there is further parking at the West Street shopping centre for anyone driving over from Dundalk, Ardee or the wider county.
