What to Expect

“Earthfall” is a dance theatre and circus piece by Undercurrent weaving together cultural dance from Zimbabwe, Brazil and Ireland into what the company describes as both a celebration of cultural diversity and a reflection on the human cost of restrictive immigration policy. Four performers, trapped in what is described as a Kafkaesque realm of rules they cannot make sense of, are watched throughout by a young girl, leaving the audience to decide whether what unfolds is nightmare or reality. The production moves between aerial work, floor based dance and quieter, still moments of connection, and brings together performers across different generations, including a younger performer alongside the company’s more experienced dancers. Undercurrent is a Leitrim based dance film theatre company associated with choreographer Kate Wilson, and it toured Earthfall to Roscommon Arts Centre in September 2026 as part of the same autumn run that brings the show on to Drogheda. At other tour dates the show has been guided toward audiences aged ten and up, though families should confirm the age guidance directly with Droichead for this Drogheda performance.

Getting There

Droichead Arts Centre is on Stockwell Street in central Drogheda, next to the Municipal Centre and library, an easy walk from the bus and rail stations. Drogheda is on the M1 motorway about 50km north of Dublin, with Enterprise and commuter rail services from Dublin Connolly taking around 45 minutes.
