Billed as Munster’s first two-day health and wellness festival, Elevate Fit Fest takes over the grounds of Shanbally House near Nenagh for a weekend built around movement, mindfulness and food rather than music or markets. It is a departure from the usual festival format in Tipperary: no bands, no camping, just a working programme of fitness classes, talks and workshops set in a country house garden, aimed at an adult audience looking for a structured weekend rather than a casual day out.
The programme runs across three themed areas. The Move tent covers dance, fight-flow style workouts and self-defence classes; a Mindfulness and Flow tent runs yoga, pilates, breathwork and soundbath sessions; and a Talk tent hosts speakers on fitness, nutrition and women’s health, along with panel discussions and Q&As. Cooking demonstrations and food vendors run throughout both days, tying the “food” strand of the festival to the fitness and mindfulness classes rather than treating it as a separate market. The event is strictly 18 and over and in-person only, so it is not aimed at families, but it suits anyone in the county looking for a wellness-focused weekend rather than a conventional gym class.
Shanbally House is on the Shanbally estate outside Nenagh, in north Tipperary. Nenagh itself is on the N7 and M7 corridor, about 90 minutes from Dublin and 45 minutes from Limerick by road. There is no public transport laid on specifically for the festival, so travelling by car is the practical option, with parking available at the venue.
Nenagh is a lively market town with a Norman castle at its centre, and makes an easy base for a festival weekend, with Lough Derg a short drive away for those wanting to extend the trip. There is more to see in Nenagh and across Co. Tipperary.
