Katherine Priddy

At Droichead Arts Centre · Stockwell Street, Drogheda, Co. Louth

Katherine Priddy performing live

Katherine Priddy is one of the most distinctive voices to emerge from British folk in recent years - a Birmingham songwriter whose finger-picking guitar style and literary approach to songwriting have drawn comparisons to a young Richard Thompson and earned her a Guardian “folk prodigy” tag. On 20 September 2026, she plays Droichead Arts Centre in Drogheda on what is a wider Irish tour, with Galway songwriter Darragh O’Dea in support. This is a proper sit-down concert, not a pub background gig, and the kind of night that suits anyone who wants to actually listen.

What to expect

The show is part of Night Moves, a curated series run through Droichead by singer-songwriter SJ McArdle, which means the bill is put together with care. The venue is Droichead’s intimate café bar rather than the main 169-seat theatre, which keeps the atmosphere close and warm - you are near the artist, not watching from a distance.

Priddy is touring in support of her album These Frightening Machines, released in early 2026 via Cooking Vinyl. It follows The Pendulum Swing (2024), which drew strong notices from The Guardian and The Irish Times for its 1960s folk influences and sophisticated arrangements. Her debut, The Eternal Rocks Beneath (2021), went to number one on the UK Folk Albums Chart.

Opening the night is Darragh O’Dea, an Irish songwriter from Tuam, Co. Galway, who has built a reputation for wistful indie-folk storytelling. The two have form together - O’Dea featured Priddy on his single “Guerrilla Warfare in Your Back Garden” - so the pairing is not accidental.

Getting there

Drogheda is on the M1 motorway, about 50 km north of Dublin and 15 km south of the border. By car, parking in Drogheda town centre is available at several surface car parks close to Stockwell Street; the venue is next to the library in the Drogheda Municipal Centre. By rail, Dublin Connolly to Drogheda takes around 45 minutes on Enterprise or commuter services, and the walk from the station into town is under 15 minutes. Bus Eireann and GoBus also run frequent services from Dublin city.

While you’re in Drogheda

Drogheda is a proper town with good food and independent pubs, and the area north of the Boyne is well worth an evening before or after. There is more to see in Drogheda and across Co. Louth.
