Tea, Chat and a Sing-Song brings people together once a month at the Slieveardagh Cultural and Enterprise Centre in Killenaule, run by Killenaule Library as a relaxed social morning built around exactly what the name promises, a cup of tea, some conversation, and singing. It runs on the fourth Thursday of the month and is scheduled to continue through to the end of November 2026.
The session runs from 11am to around 12:30pm in the Slieveardagh Centre on River Street, a community venue that also hosts other local groups and events. There is no formal programme beyond tea, conversation and a shared sing-song, so it suits anyone who enjoys company and a bit of music without the pressure of a performance. It draws on the tradition of the parish hall singsong, familiar to older generations, refreshed as a regular library-run gathering aimed particularly at people who might otherwise be on their own for a morning. It is free to attend, and no singing ability or musical background is required, joining in is entirely optional, and newcomers are made welcome by the regulars.
