The Noughties

At The Spirit Store · Georges Quay, Dundalk, Co. Louth, A91 NR79

The Noughties 2000s tribute night promotional photo

If you were a teenager when Mr Brightside first came on the radio, this is the night for you. The Noughties are a five-piece indie rock cover band who play the songs that defined the 2000s - The Killers, Kings of Leon, The Strokes, The White Stripes, Oasis and more - all done live, loud and in a room full of people who know every word. It is a proper Friday night out rather than background music: the format is built for singing along and dancing, and the crowd tends to oblige. Well worth the early doors time.

What to expect

The band run through the decade’s biggest anthems as well as some deeper catalogue picks - so expect the obvious crowd-pleasers alongside a few that catch you off guard in the best way. The setting is the Spirit Store on Georges Quay, one of the best-regarded small live venues in the north-east. The main performance space is upstairs from the bar, giving it a compact, close-to-the-stage feel that suits this kind of high-energy show. Doors open at 7:30 pm, so there is time to get a drink and settle in before the band starts. Tickets are €15 plus a €1.50 booking fee and are non-refundable, so check the date before you buy.

Getting there

Dundalk is on the main Dublin to Belfast rail corridor, with regular Irish Rail services stopping at Dundalk Clarke Station - from there it is roughly a ten-minute walk down to Georges Quay. By road, Dundalk is about an hour north of Dublin on the M1 and around 35 minutes south of Newry. Parking on the quays and in the town centre is generally available on a Friday evening, though the immediate quayside can fill up, so allow a few extra minutes.

While you’re in Dundalk

The Quay area has a few decent spots for a pre-show meal or a drink, and the Spirit Store itself serves street food through its A91 kitchen on weekends. There is more to see in Dundalk and across Co. Louth.
