At Daly's Bar and Lounge · 9 High Street, Omagh, Co. Tyrone, BT78 1BA
Ro Boyle is a Northern Ireland stand-up and promoter who also runs Daly’s Comedy Club and the Boiler Room Comedy Club in Strabane, and Showed Up is his own solo touring special rather than a shared club bill. The Eventbrite listing describes it plainly as a stand-up special, with support on the night from an act performing under the name Ireland’s Only Catholic Orangeman. The Omagh date is one stop on a wider autumn tour that also takes in the Sunflower Bar in Belfast, the Nerve Centre in Derry, McGuigan’s Bar in Stranorlar and a date in Monaghan, with a second Co. Tyrone stop at Joe’s Bar in Strabane on Friday, 9 October, two weeks before the Omagh show. Boyle has built his reputation locally through years of MC and promoter work across Tyrone’s comedy scene, so a solo headline set gives him more room to run his own material than the compere slots he is better known for.
Daly’s Bar and Lounge is on High Street in the centre of Omagh, Co. Tyrone’s county town, within easy walking distance of the bus station and the main car parks serving the town centre. The A5 runs through Omagh, connecting Derry to the north-west with Dublin to the south via Monaghan, and Strabane, the venue for Boyle’s other Tyrone date, is a further 20 minutes north-west along the same road. Ulsterbus services connect both towns, so it is possible to reach either date without a car. There is more to see in Omagh and across Co. Tyrone.
