At The Burnavon · Burn Road, Cookstown, Co. Tyrone, BT80 8DN
Johnny Cash and June Carter tribute show Cash Returns comes to The Burnavon in Cookstown on Saturday, 3 October 2026. JP Mac takes the role of Johnny Cash, backed by a nine-piece band, in a show built around the Man in Black’s catalogue and stage presence rather than a straight covers set.
The show has been built around the “Walk the Line” era of Cash’s career, drawing on the soundtrack to the 2005 biopic as much as Cash’s own studio records, with a setlist that runs through “Ring of Fire”, “Long Legged Guitar Pickin’ Man”, “Jackson”, “Cry Cry Cry” and “Cocaine Blues” among others. JP Mac has built a reputation on his baritone voice and stage mannerisms, which reviewers and award panels have compared closely to Cash’s own delivery, and the production has picked up tribute-act honours including recognition at the Northern Ireland Country Music Awards. With a nine-piece band on stage, this is a fuller sound than most tribute shows manage, closer to a full country and rockabilly band than a duo with backing tracks. Expect a mixed crowd of country fans and Cash devotees, with the Man in Black’s gospel and outlaw material both getting an airing across the night.
The Burnavon is on Burn Road in Cookstown town centre, with a free public car park next to the building. Cookstown’s main street and bus stops are a short walk away.
A Johnny Cash tribute night is a solid excuse for dinner or drinks in Cookstown beforehand. There is more to see and do in Cookstown, and further afield across Co. Tyrone.
