Knockbride Festival Family Fun Day is a community fundraiser held at Saint Brigid’s Primary School in Knockbride East, outside Bailieborough, with proceeds going to the parish’s two local schools. It is built around big outdoor draws like tractor pulling and dyno testing alongside a full children’s programme, and it has become one of the fixed dates on the east Cavan community calendar each August.
The day is anchored by tractor pulling and dyno testing, both popular with the farming families who make up much of the parish, alongside a vintage vehicle display for anyone who wants to look rather than compete. Trade stands run throughout the grounds, and a barbecue and bar keep things going for the adults. Children are well catered for with colouring, a puppet show, a magic show, mascots and welly throwing, so the day works as a genuine family outing rather than just a farm machinery show. It is run by volunteers from the Knockbride parish community with the specific aim of raising money for the two local primary schools, and it draws support from well beyond the immediate townland given how few events of this kind are left in this part of the county.
