Local Enterprise Office Cavan runs its Start Your Own Business Programme every few months for anyone in the county thinking about setting up on their own. The October 2026 course runs over three weeks, with two morning sessions a week delivered live online via Zoom, and it is designed to walk new and prospective business owners through everything from business planning to tax registration. The course is delivered by Talentpool Ltd on behalf of the Local Enterprise Office and costs €25 for the full programme, a heavily subsidised rate reflecting the office’s remit to support local start-ups.
The programme runs as six morning sessions across three weeks: Tuesdays 6, 13 and 20 October, and Thursdays 8, 15 and 22 October, each from 9:30am to 12:30pm. Content covers the practical steps of starting a business, including business plan basics, market research, legal structures, tax and regulatory obligations, and financial planning. Because it runs on Zoom, participants can take part from home or work without travelling into Cavan town, and login details are sent by email ahead of the start date. A one to one follow-up call with a trainer is arranged after the group sessions finish, giving participants a chance to talk through their own business idea individually rather than only in the group setting.
The course is delivered entirely online, so there is no venue to travel to for the sessions themselves. Local Enterprise Office Cavan operates from Cavan County Council’s offices on Farnham Street, Cavan town, for anyone who wants to call in with questions beforehand.
